E22 is back!!! First reported on 20 September 1997, using the same set of frequencies then as it does now. The messages / idents are in English and consist of a 3-character group (2 letters and 1 digit). The announcer has an Arabic accent or something that sounds like it. Transmissions are in AM.
It was only heard for a couple of weeks in 1997 and no-one has reported it since, until it re-appeared on 9 July 2005. There was however one log on WUN on 7 Nov. 2004 that mentions a similar broadcast: "UL5" announced by a lady on 15040 kHz at 1000 UTC. Currently the messages are read by a man.
The station has a lot of followers. Many logs appeared on the WUN, Spooks and E2K mailing lists since it reappeared.
The station has scheduled transmissions at 0900, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400 UTC on 15040//17385 kHz, but not daily. The station seems to haveĀ preference to Fridays and Saturdays.
The transmission begins with a carrier minutes before the message is being sent. Then at h00 the message is sent and repeated at h06. The start of the message is a bit odd. It begins with "This is ..." which often sounds like "Condition ..."; or is it really "Condition"?? I have heard the station myself and I also heard a number of recordings and I must say that I am still not convinced which one it really is.
Guy copied the first oddity: the station on 16-7 at 1110 UTC with "BP3". 1110 UTC is outside the schedule. Other oddities were reported by a number of monitors. On several occasions voices could be heard in the background. The language has not been recognised yet.
Idents/messages copied at the time of writing are: BP3, MN2, MN3, PN8, PS5, QT3, VP3, XN2, XN6, YD6, ZY8 plus FD7 and FD9, both heard in 1997 and UL5 heard in 2004.
