"On the heels of Radio Liberty's April launch of its controversial Chechen Service, Russia has announced its own plans for a Chechen-language agency to broadcast into the breakaway republic. VOA News reports that the new service, to be run by Russia's Interior Ministry, is intended to counter the effects of the U.S.-funded Radio Liberty service. In addition, Sergei Stepashin, head of Russia's Audit Chamber, has publicly aired the possibility of revoking Radio Liberty's license to broadcast in Russia."
