Morse stations

M10

Tom checks in with a question about the station that only transmits "555". This station has been heard on a number of frequencies during the past few months. It is suggested that these transmissions are tests from M10.

10110 kHz, 0233 UTC, CW numbers: 555 555 555 for about 10 minutes.

M13

This morse sister of E18 is still very active with daily transmissions on a number of changing frequencies. Check the logs database at http://home.luna.nl/~ary/download.htm for the logs. Like other numbers stations they have an annual schedule. Try to figure it out using the logs in the database.

... or see the pseudo schedules section.

M40

Next stop is Chita, where Igor listens to the world. He sent us a M40 message that he heard on 8959 kHz at 1603 UTC on 5 Dec.

M63 - A2A

The mysterious "A2A" has not been reported since clocks throughout Europe reverted to standard times at the end of October. Until that date it was on the freqs mentioned in the November newsletter; it does normally change times and freqs at the end of "summer time", but normally it would be found again within a few days. <info: John>

M51

Although the station isn't reported often lately, it is still very much alive. Recent frequencies include 2555, 2563, 3616, 3618, 5479.5 kHz.

M76

I broke my own stupidity record this month :-) I bought a timer to record M76 during the early hours and after a week I found out that I connected my scanner to the cassette deck instead of my NRD545.

M76 is still on 3819 kHz with daily schedules at 0500 and 1750 UTC. Reports are more than welcome as the station is very weak here in W.Europe. Here is M76's profile to give you something to hold on to.

The callsigns are 4 characters, the first sent 3x, the second sent 2x. They are changed daily, but the callsign used at 1750 is the same next day at 0500. New callsigns start at 1750 UTC.

Here is the transmission of Wednesday 5 December at 1750 UTC.

Channel marker "L" from St. Petersburg is back on the air on a new frequency: 3340 kHz. Its typical chirpy sound is not as distinctive as it used to be. The signal was quite strong over here. I copied the marker on various dates and copied an encrypted message on 14 December. The "L" marker stopped and a 75bd RTTY message followed between 2210 and 2214 UTC. After that the "L" marker resumed.

Unids

Since at least three years Igor has copied an unid network that sends hand keyed short messages on a number of frequencies between 1300 and 2200 UTC, and possibly also on other times. Information about this net is most welcome.

L9CC & friends

Uli, DJ9KR, Coordinator of DARC Monitoring System Intruder Watch told me that the RegTP (German PTT) has corrected the location of L9CC from Moscow to China. Igor, who lives in Chita, Russia, near the Chinese border, told us earlier that this station is most likely Chinese. Takashi from Nagasaki thinks that it is either in Central or Western Russia. The station is still very active on a number of frequencies and so far no one has ever copied a message.

Similar operations were copied by Takashi on a number of frequencies.Looking at the format, these stations may be related to L9CC.
