Tom forwarded a note about L9CC. The station that was DFed to the Moscow region by the German RegTP. Igor suggested earlier China as country of origin and it looks like he is right......
« I just was informed by the German HAM-radio intruder watch that the German telecommunication authority (RegTP) has again DF (beamed) the famous CW station L9CC (active in CW with calling-marker to CP17) and identified this station as coming from China. Seems that they correct their first DF of Moscow Region. Looks that Igor was absolutely correct with his ID of China, according to their operation style ! great ! »
L9CC reportedly used the following frequencies in March:
4048, 5340, 5431, 5435, 5439, 6913, 7047.3, and 9447 kHz.

The strange letter combinations heard in the Far East still continue.
Takashi logged the following combinations:
These markers are stronger than 'F' from Vladivostok. I wonder if these letter combinations are intentional or are caused by a faulty transmitter, supposedly from the home of 'M', Magadan.

The unid - presumably Russian - point-to-point propagation tester is back, if it was gone at all. Heard on 3207, 4207, ... 16207 kHz. The sequence started at 08:37:05 and 09:07:05 on 3207, 10 seconds later on 4207, and so on, up to 16207 kHz.
Klaus Betke noticed a difference in the data bursts:
« Now there are apparently two systems: The old approximate 100 bps burst, and a new faster one. On 7207 kHz and below I could only hear the "fast" burst. On 8207 and higher either both or the old one. Did not sound as if they were responding to each other; just two similar systems at the same time on the same frequency.
If the new one is also in CIS, it must be in the western most part of Belorussia or Ukraine, or Kaliningrad. Anything beyond could hardly be heard here at 0900. »

Igor is always good for an odd log. His submission for this month was found on 3100 kHz at 1729 UTC on 13 March.

Ideas anyone???
For "A2A"-watchers - this station has changed its operating habits. It no longer uses fixed freqs for its early-morning transmissions, but remains on whatever freqs it was using the previous evening. It used 4067 and 5117, with the out stations on 4759 kHz. A2A comes on at 0500 UTC asking for "QSA and REP", and the out stations reply in turn saying "REP" or occasionally a different three-letter group. It comes on again at 0600; if there is traffic on hand, he sends it (using this odd system at 115.74 bd with ACF = 23) on RTTY, otherwise he merely asks for "QSA and OP" and the out stations reply in turn with the QSA report and the number of the operator on duty. (This applies on weekdays; on Sundays the 0600 transmission does not take place until 0700; I am not sure about Saturdays). From the last weekend in March, when Summer Time begins throughout Europe, all these times will be one hour earlier by UTC.
