NuMorse morse tutor
During the past months several people asked for a morse tutor. When you search the Internet, you will find lots of morse tutors. Many of them are probably good, you'll have to try them for yourself. One of the finest tutors I came accross is NuMorse 1.40, a US$ 29.00 shareware program that can be downloaded from the NuMorse home page.
There is also a free 'light' version of the program available.
NuMorse 1.40 features:
- All alphanumeric characters plus all other special characters like +[AR] /[DN] *[SK] =[BT] are available. Many other prosigns can be set up to map to keyboard characters.
- Play random characters or play from file, keyboard or QSO generator.
- NuMorse can "correct" your work using speech phonetics via a sound card.
- NuMorse gathers detailed performance statistics. Use them to automatically adjust code settings.
- Several endurance speedup modes.
- Log files record code output as well as your typed responses, cut & paste to/from word processors.
- Character filter options and random number weighting.
- Drive an external code oscillator generator via printer or any port.
- Control NuMorse speed automatically from a file.
- Minimum character speed 5 WPM, minimum text speed 3.2 WPM.
- A visual semaphore.
- Response time thermometer.
- Entering the NuMorse access code will remove the 10 WPM code speed limit and NuMorse will then be able to send code at up to 48 wpm.
I have no time to write a product review right now. So if someone feels like he/she wants to write a review, please feel free to do so and send me a copy for this column.
