Bits and pieces

Unid voice stations

Ian in New Zealand copied this unid station: 5342.5 kHz, Russian station at 0825 UTC (9 March) LSB with YL in RR repeating names like OLGA, SERGEI, YURI, MIKHAIL, NICKOLEI, IVAN etc. Ideas anyone?

Andy heard the following unid station:
Saturday 20 March, 1603 UTC, 8140 kHz - Strong AM carrier best received in SSB mode. Language: English, male voice ("not a voice that I associate with the Russian Man Family" sez Andy)

3 fig ID (274) repeated many times
5fg in multiple batches
off at 1614 UTC with 00 00 (that's two zero's plus two zero's)
carrier off at 1618 UTC

Israeli Intelligence [E10]

Valeriano heard various special Israeli intelligence transmissions:
5530//3640 kHz at 2334 (9 March): VLBKED (x20) and a message with 14 5lg up to 0000 UTC. At the same time on 4665//3485 kHz MIWVCB with the same format, also 14 groups, but a different text.

M63

John checks in with an 'A2A' update. He writes:
"A2A" is still on 3393 kHz at 0600 UTC daily - I don't know where his second freq is. I merely mention this because later this month when most of Europe changes to "Summer Time" (Daylight Saving Time), "A2A" will change to 0500 UTC so as to be at the same local time in his country; and very probably will change to higher freqs. I can only just hear 3393 in the mornings at present - it is already becoming light here and will be full daylight in Eastern Europe - things should be much easier if he goes back to 6 MHz at the end of the month.

M76

Guy Denman reports that M76 has moved down the band to 3280, still on at 1750.

Polytone stations [XPH]

Andy supplied the morning (UTC) schedules and anomalies for March.

The schedule as set at the beginning of the month was as follows:

0700z 13411 kHz
0720z 14911 kHz
0740z 16111 kHz

On Friday 19 March the 0740 repeat of the message traffic sent at 0700 & 0720 was not repeated on 16111 kHz and Andy could not locate an alternative frequency within +/- 1 MHz.

On Tuesday 23 March, the 0720 repeat went out on 14611 kHz (still in the fixed service segment) and not 14911 kHz as expected. The 2nd repeat at 0740 went out on 16111 kHz as per the schedule.

The unid ticking station that pops up every now and then, possibly transmits from Yerevan, Armenia.
